‘Functional Pieces of Art’: That’s how Lynskey Performance Products describe their Titanium bicycles, in a nutshell.

We can’t disagree.

There seems to be so much choice out there at the moment surrounding which frame material to choose for your bicycles, with lightweight carbon fibre undoubtedly topping the charts at the performance end of the spectrum.

But increasingly, we are seeing demand move towards other frame materials, including Titanium.

So, why would you choose a Titanium Bike over another frame material? We explore some of the key reasons…

The Raw Look

There is something quite beautiful about the raw, industrial look of a Ti frame, we can’t quite put our finger on it. But we know we like it. It is certainly a classic look that will never get old or go out of fashion.

The Manufacturing Process

It is much more difficult to mass- produce titanium frames as it is not the easiest material to work with. It takes specialist knowledge to do well. This means going back to basics with good quality titanium frames being hand-built. Frames are only as good as the frame builder working on them, that’s why it’s important to go with a company that specialises in this material. This of course means that titanium bikes are not a budget option- but more an investment in what could be a ‘bike for life’.

The Material Properties

Titanium is a lighter weight material than steel and is comparable in weight to some aluminium and carbon frames available out there. Titanium is a highly durable and safe material, which has a very high tolerance to cyclical load. Titanium bikes feel comfortable to ride without compromising on performance. Be aware that there are different grades of titanium out there and not all are suitable quality for bicycle manufacture. Lynskey offer the highest quality titanium in their frames.

The customisable frames

A Lynskey build is as individual as its owner with pretty much everything about the bike being able to be customised. If you want a bike that says something about you- a Lynskey build could be a great option.

There is so much more to discuss surrounding Titanium frame builds! We can’t get enough of it!

We do hope this has tipped your proverbial toe in the water and got you interested in Titanium as an option…
