Going Pottie in Africa - 10,000 km Cycling Adventure Across Africa.
‘Some of you might be aware of @going.pottie who, having spent a year living and working in Mozambique in 2017, has recently set off for an incredible 10,000km cycling adventure across Africa.
Her incredible journey is soon coming to an end, so we thought why not ask her to extend her trip slightly and come Cardiff to talk about her experience, what got her into cycling, how best to prepare for ultra rides and share some wild stories from her adventures?! (She said “yes”.)
There will be some Q&As with Saoirse at the end of the event, together with a very well stocked raffle with some great prizes up for grabs including a premium @komoot membership, @coticbikes merch bag, a voucher for bike service from @ridebikeswales and many more.
The cost of the event is £10. This covers the venue fee and a single raffle ticket (more tickets can be purchased on the night). Any leftover money will be donated to two charities of Saoirse’s choice.
Half of the sale proceeds will go towards a community in Cape Town which focuses on teaching girls in the townships how to cycle and bike mechanic skills. They want to encourage diversity, an opportunity to gain employment in the cycling sector and independence from public transport.
The other half will be donated to Mwaya Trust, based in Malawi, founded by a teacher who Saoirse met during her adventures and who runs tutoring classes and vocational course for pupils with special educational needs.
